Hobbies
When I'm not doing research, I spend time taking
photos or playing classical guitar.
You can read about my experiences with computers and
web servers, as well as general notes on things
scientific. And here are some works of the famous American poet
Charles Bukowski.
Here's an essay that a wrote a long time ago, called
Life, Research
and Everything. Among other things, it describes my research, and
the field as I saw it then, back in 1994, as I was making the transition
from computer science to neurobiology.
When I was young, I used to think that people would read my resumé
on the web and offer me jobs. That strategy worked very well: after
pursuing it for twelve years, I have received zero job offers as a result
of my website. On the other hand, several people have looked at my photos
and asked me if I can take photos at their wedding/kid's birthday.
For nostalgic reasons, my
resumé is still found here, as well as a
PDF version.
I haven't been updating my page of links for
the last ten years or so,
but I maintain it for backward compatibility. I am very weary of
people removing web pages without regard to others who may have linked
to them -- so I never remove any pages.
